Enfield Athletes Still Competing for State Titles

Town competitors are very much in the mix in state tournaments in boys volleyball, boys golf and boys and girls track and field.

The turning of the calendar to June means the end of the spring sports season for most Enfield and Fermi high school teams, but a few Raiders and Falcons are still in competition in state tournament action.

Boys Volleyball
Enfield, seeded third in Class M, plays in the semifinals Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Amity High School against seventh-seeded Darien. The winner of that matchup plays for the Class M championship Friday at 5 p.m. at Shelton High School.

Boys Golf
Fermi is seeded 12th in the Division 2 tournament, to be held Monday at Tallwood Country Club in Hebron. Enfield is seeded 14th in Division 3, which holds its tournament Monday at Timberlin Golf Club in Berlin. Enfield's Ryan Zetterholm was individual co-champion in 2012, and looks to repeat that success.

Boys and Girls Track and Field
Three town athletes have qualified for the State Open, to be held Monday at Willow Brook Park in New Britain. Tyrik Henry of Enfield will compete in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles, while Fermi's Sashanova McLaughlin and Ernie Bouthiette take part in the triple jump and pole vault, respectively.
