Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
I have lived in Enfield for all my adult life and care deeply for our community. I have been involved in many different community organizations and have a large network of friends and neighbors which allows me to have a good pulse on what our residents want from their town. We used to be called the biggest small town in Connecticut. Over the past couple of years, we have lost sight of this.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Affordability. The current majority party on the Town Council has been reckless and irresponsible with their spending, resulting in multiple substantial tax increases placed on the tax payers of Enfield.
We need to bring fiscally responsible leadership to the town council. We should be mindful our spending and the delicate balance of what the needs and wants are compared to what our residents can afford.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have lifelong leadership and organizational skills and a strong budgeting background, all of which are essential to be successful in this position.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
Irresponsible spending on the backs of tax payers of Enfield.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I will work to ensure the infrastructure (roads, sewers and water systems) of the town of Enfield are meeting the needs of the tax payers.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Serving in the Connecticut Army National Guard for 10 years and a volunteer firefighter for 20 years has provided me with real world knowledge of leadership and collaboration. In addition to my 40-plus years’ experience in budgeting major construction projects, including on the Enfield High School Building Committee where we delivered an end product that was on time and under budget, I feel I have the qualifications needed to work with others to do what’s best for the residents of Enfield.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Treat people the way you would like to be treated – sadly some of our leaders don’t do this now.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I have spent my entire life serving the people in my community and it would be an honor and privilege to continue serving the people of Enfield.
