Enfield Captures Openers in Girls Soccer, Field Hockey State Tournaments
More than a dozen field hockey and volleyball teams from Hartford and Tolland counties were in state tournament action Wednesday.
ENFIELD, CT — A two-sport doubleheader at Enfield High School proved highly successful for the host school Wednesday.
Girls soccer opened the afternoon by blanking Hamden 2-0 in the opening round of the Class LL state tournament.
Bella Laramee and Danielle Delano scored the Eagle goals, with Mykenah Marcotte earning assists on both. Cat Fonseca earned the shutout in goal, making six saves.

Fourth-seeded Enfield will host No. 13 Wilton in the second round Friday at 6 p.m.
Shortly after the soccer game concluded, the second-seeded field hockey team took to the turf and duplicated their counterparts' efforts, posting a 2-0 victory over No. 15 Newtown to advance into the quarterfinals of the Class L tournament.

Enfield goals were tallied by Mikayla March, assisted by Taylor Geaglone, and Tori Geaglone, set up by Jessie Maier. Kelly Mazza stopped six shots to record the shutout for the Eagles.
Enfield will host No. 7 Norwalk Friday at 3 p.m., kicking off a second straight doubleheader of girls' tournament excitement.
