Enfield Explodes in Third Quarter for Tournament Win

The Eagles ran off 14 straight points to open the second half to knock E.O. Smith out of the CCC girls basketball tournament.

ENFIELD, CT — An intermission rejuvenation worked wonders for Enfield High School during the quarterfinal round of the CCC girls basketball tournament Friday.

After a lackluster first half in which they scored just 23 points, the host Eagles surpassed that total with a 24-point third quarter, sparking the way to a 57-47 victory over E.O. Smith and a berth in the semifinals.

Enfield will take on Glastonbury Monday at Northwest Catholic in West Hartford at 3 p.m., followed immediately by the Middletown-Hall matchup.
