Enfield GOP Endorses Longtime State Senator
The Enfield Republican Town Committee chairwoman praised Kissel's accessibility and work with residents.

ENFIELD, CT — Republicans in Connecticut’s 7th State Senate District have endorsed state Sen. John A. Kissel for another term, according to an announcement from the Enfield Republican Committee.
The endorsement was unanimous, according to the committee. Kissel, a Republican from Enfield, represents the 7th Senate District, which includes Enfield, Suffield, Somers, East Granby, Windsor Locks and parts of Ellington, Granby and Windsor.
Kissel is serving his 16th term in the state Senate, according to the Connecticut Senate Republicans. He is listed as the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee and the Regulation Review Committee, and also serves on the General Law Committee.

The committee said Republicans across the district cited Kissel’s accessibility, community involvement and focus on local issues as reasons for supporting another term.
Enfield Republican Town Committee Chairwoman Kelly Hemmeler said Kissel has been approachable and willing to listen to residents.

“I endorse Senator John Kissel because he is the kind of public servant who is a friendly neighbor,” Hemmeler said in the announcement. “He is always approachable, always willing to listen, and always happy to help.”
The committee said Kissel’s priorities include local education, early childhood and special education, public safety, government accountability, support for seniors and issues affecting working families.
Kissel said he plans to continue meeting voters across the district ahead of the November election.
“Being able to serve my constituents is both a blessing and tremendous honor,” Kissel said in the announcement. “I’m excited to meet as many folks as I can to continue to win their trust and support.”
Kissel’s campaign website lists the 7th District as including East Granby, Enfield, Somers, Suffield, Windsor Locks and parts of Ellington, Granby and Windsor. His official Senate Republican biography also lists him as representing the 7th District.
