Enfield High School Senior Wins a Kia Soul
Nick DiProto held the winning key to a brand new car.
At Wednesday's class picnic, five Enfield High School seniors were given keys that would potentially unlock a brand new Kia Soul. Only one would work.
The winning key (after an initial false start) belonged to Nick DiProto, who received a loud ovation from his classmates as dealership owner Gary Rome swung open the door.
Criteria for eligibility included maintaining at least a "B" average, having no disciplinary action, excellent attendance and performing at least 40 hours of community service.
"I worked at Holy Family Church and played guitar in a folk group there," DiProto said. "I'm going to start at Asnuntuck Community College, and eventually I want to major in criminal justice and become a federal agent."
DiProto named Rob Barnes as the teacher who had the most effect on him; Rome presented Barnes with a $100 gas card.
Runners-up Brandon Andexler, Rebecca Labbe, Conor Sutphin and Ryan Zetterholm also received gas cards.
This was the fourth straight year Gary Rome Kia has sponsored the car giveaway; next year's contest will be conducted at Fermi High School.
