Enfield K-9 Assists With East Windsor Heroin Bust

A regional narcotics task force executed a warrant Thursday evening and got more than they bargained for, with the aid of an Enfield K-9.

EAST WINDSOR, CT - A regional task force executing a search warrant at a Warehouse Point home wound up arresting four suspects Thursday evening.

Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said the North Central Regional Narcotics Task Force, comprised of officers from Enfield, East Windsor, Windsor Locks and Suffield, had obtained a warrant to search a home at 46 North Water Street after an extensive investigation into heroin sales.

Armed with seven active arrest warrants, police arrested Mario Petrolito, 35, and charged him with seven counts of sale of heroin and one count of possession of heroin with intent to sell. He was in possession of 40 bags of heroin upon his arrest, Sferrazza said.

During the course of the warrant execution, contact was made with an alleged heroin dealer. A car was stopped on North Water Street, and Enfield police K-9 Bruin alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, Sferrazza said.

A search of the car yielded 370 bags of heroin, a small amount of marijuana and $1,200 in cash, Sferrazza said.

Victor Rodriguez, 29, and Jesus Rivera, 33, both of Hartford, were charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell, conspiracy to sell heroin and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.

Rodriguez was found in possession of brass knuckles, and was additionally charged with having weapons in a motor vehicle.

Each man was held on $200,000 bond.

"More than 400 bags of heroin were taken off the streets of northern Connecticut last night," Sferrazza said.
