Enfield Man Charged With Beating Truck Driver

A second suspect in the case has not yet been charged, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield man turned himself in to police Tuesday night after learning of a warrant for his arrest stemming from a serious assault case this summer.

Alex Lindinger, 22, was charged with second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree breach of peace.

Bond was set at $25,000, and he was scheduled to appear in Enfield Superior Court Wednesday.

The incident for which Lindinger is charged took place June 6, when a truck driver was allegedly beaten during an altercation on Moody Road.

Collins said multiple calls were received concerning an assault by two men, one armed with a club or baseball bat, on the driver of a Coca-Cola truck near North Maple Street. Another call, received minutes later, said the truck was stopped on Print Shop Road, off Moody and nearly a mile east of North Maple Street.

While stopped at a red light at Moody and North Maple, the driver told police he was suddenly assaulted by a man who climbed up the truck and punched him through the open window. As he proceeded eastbound on Moody, the car passed him and stopped in front of the truck, blocking its progress, Collins said.

The truck driver admitted getting out of his vehicle to confront the men, and says he was then assaulted with the bat or club, causing head injuries which required treatment at an area hospital, Collins said.

Lindinger had been listed on the police department's web site under the "Enfield's Most Wanted" section, and featured Sunday in a similar story on Enfield Patch.

The second suspect has not yet been charged, Collins said, adding the investigation is still ongoing.
