Enfield Man Pleads Guilty in Death of His Wife

The man is expected to be sentenced to 25 years in prison, according to a report.

An Enfield man pleaded guilty Wednesday to first-degree manslaughter and cruelty to persons charges in connection with the death of his wife last May.

John Dewees Jr., 50, is expected to face 25 years in prison, suspended after he serves 15 years, and three years of probation, according to The Courant. Dewees is scheduled to be sentenced on June 18.

Dewees originally was charged with manslaughter after Enfield Police investigated the death of Anja Dewees, 45. However, state’s attorney Vicki Melchiorre increased the charge to murder following more investigation, according to the report.
