Enfield Marathoner: "My First Thoughts Were With My Kids and Grandkids"
Keith Almeida was Enfield's only entrant in the Boston Marathon, and he and several family members were very close to where the bombs exploded.

Keith Almeida of Enfield was the town's only official entrant in the 117th Boston Marathon, and was in very close proximity to where the explosions took place.
Enfield Patch emailed Almeida, 61, the night of the marathon, and received this email from him Thursday morning:
"I was just down the street in the finishing area when the bombs went off. My first thoughts were with my kids and grandkids.
One daughter was across from the bombs with one of my grandsons, and my other daughter was at mile 25.
My thoughts were with them, and I felt like I was holding my breath for an hour before I knew they were OK.
I still haven't gotten a good night's sleep.
It was a bittersweet ending to Boston; my prayers are with all the people most affected by the bombs."
