Enfield Military Dad Pleads for Return of Stolen Statue
A sailor statue was apparently taken from a Moody Road yard in the last few days, and the homeowner is appealing for its return.
ENFIELD, CT — The apparent theft of a sailor statue from the front of a Moody Road home has prompted a public plea from the homeowner for its return.
Richard Donovan posted a large wooden sign in the front yard of 251 Moody Road Sunday afternoon which reads:
"To the person or persons that stole the sailor statue from the front of our home, Our son and his unit are serving overseas and will not be home for the holidays. Show some respect for those in the military who serve and have served to protect your and our freedoms. Return the statue and be grateful for their and all military service."
Donovan said the statue, which resides in a flower bed adjacent to the front of his house at the corner of Somers Road, was taken sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning.

He said he and his wife are upset not only by the theft, but by the fact the perpetrators left a small American flag lying on the ground, which is in violation of the U.S. Flag Code.
Donovan said their son is in the U.S. Navy, and he and his wife are not exactly sure where he is at the moment during his current deployment.
