Enfield Obituary: Eliot McIsaac, 91

Condolences to his family and friends.

Eliot T. McIsaac, 91, of Enfield entered into his eternal rest on November 20, 2015.

Born on June 12, 1924, in Weymouth, MA, he was the son of the late Stuart and Alice (Loud) McIsaac. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1942 and worked at the Bethlehem Shipyard in Quincy, MA, until he was drafted in March of 1943. He served in the U.S. Army until discharge in 1946. While in the Army he attended Queens College in New York under the Army Specalized Training Program and was assigned to Engineering. He was sent overseas to the European Theater with the First Corps of Combat Engineers.

Upon return home he attended Burdett College in Boston and upon graduation he moved to Connecticut and worked in the Parole Department at the State prison in Wethersfield. He then worked in payroll and personnel at the prison until he was appointed as Personal Secretary to the new State Jail Administrator, working closely with him for the next ten years. After thirty years of state service, he became a loan officer at the State Employee Credit Union and worked another ten years.

A resident of Enfield since 1957, he was a faithful member of the Hazardville United Methodist Church, former secretary of AARP Chapter 3062 and was involved with the University of the Third Age at Asnuntuck Community Technical College. He truly enjoyed music and sang with the “Goldtones” of Enfield, the Enfield Community Chorus for 26 years and the senior choir of the Hazardville United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Doris (Nelson) McIsaac. He is survived by his daughters Linda J. Leclair and her husband Francis of Delaware, Ohio; and Judith M. Wysocki and her husband, John of Torrington; four grandchildren, Scott Hughes, Douglas Hughes and his wife Leandra, Jennifer Lentino and her husband Nick, and Jannine Healis and her husband Brian and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. McIsaac will be held on Saturday, November 28 at 11 a.m. at the Harzard United Methodist Church, 330 Hazard Avenue, Enfield followed by burial in Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Her family will receive friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield on Friday, November 27, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music program of the Hazardville United Methodist Church, 330 Hazard Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082.
