Enfield Obituary: Lawrence Batignani, Sr., 76

Condolences to his family and friends.

Lawrence Batignani Sr., 76, of Enfield, beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away Tuesday, July 25 at Baystate Medical Center.

Born on September 23, 1940 in Hartford, Larry was the son of Serafino and Ann Marie Batignani and grew up in Hartford and East Hartford. He attended St. Anthony School and was a graduate of East Hartford High School and attended Hartford State Technical College.

Larry was the Manager and Level 3 Inspector for Parker Industrial X-Ray, where he was employed for more than 50 years. He was an avid fisherman for many years and owned a fish & tackle business as well as directing many pro fishing tournaments and charity tournaments throughout New England. Larry received several awards for his commitment to community groups and volunteered for various non-profit organizations throughout Connecticut, including local Boy Scout troops, Camp Sunrise, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Riverfront Recapture.

He leaves behind his beloved son, Lawrence Batignani Jr., of Somers, three brothers and their wives, Anthony and Renée Batignani of Niantic, Michael and Claudette Batignani of Kennebunk, ME., Frederick and Carol Batignani of Sebastian, FL., a sister and her husband, Armida and John Lemke Sr., of Hebron; nine nieces and nephews and their spouses; Theodore Bothur of Crestwood, KY., Deanna Hinebaugh of Tampa, FL., Tammy Lemke of Hebron, John Lemke Jr., of Amston, Shannon Cruz of Chaplin, his Godson Scott Lemke of Amston, his Goddaughter Alison Batignani of Atlanta, GA, Rose Batignani of Orlando, FL., and Crystal Batignani-Lewis of Virginia Beach, VA; 11 great nieces and nephews; 2 great great nephews; his Sullivan, Fiano, Toce and Casanta cousins and many loving friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Rochetta Gliha.

Larry loved life and will be remembered for his infectious smile, his good natured ways and his wonderful sense of humor.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 8:30-9:30am at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Burial will conclude services in Silver Lane Cemetery.
