Enfield Obituary: Robert Rivest, 83

Robert J. Rivest, 83, of Enfield, beloved husband of Sandra (Swormstedt) Rivest, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

He was born on December 31, 1931 in Franklin, NH, and was the son of the late Joseph and Rebecca (Defosses) Rivest. Robert was a resident of Enfield for fifty years; he was employed by Pratt & Whitney before retiring after thirty-one years, and was a communicant of St. Martha Church. He was also actively involved in the youth center at Brainard Park. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Robert was an avid golfer, enjoyed dancing, and loved working on cars.

In addition to his wife Sandra to whom he was married for fifty- nine years, he is survived by five children, Kim Rivest and her husband Joseph Mayo of Vernon, Kathy Rivest-Delisio of Manchester, Robert Rivest and his wife Amelia Hays-Rivest of Springfield, MA, Sheila Rivest of Munson, MA, Jesse Rivest and his wife Sonia Kovaco-Rivest of Enfield; eight grandchildren, Bonnie Branson, Brandon Delisio, Lindsey Ragno, Kyle Ragno, Lalia Hays-Rivest, Sierra Hays- Rivest, Hailey Rivest, Ethan Rivest; two great granddaughters, Gianna Fusco and Isabella Fusco. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Rivest and a sister, Lillian Johnson.

A visitation will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 8:30 to 9:30 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A funeral procession will gather at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martha Church, Enfield, Burial with military honors will follow in Hazardville Cemetery.
