Enfield Police Chase Down Man After Home Break-In
Enfield cops chased down a suspect in a weekend home break-in.

ENFIELD, CT — Police chased down and took into custody a man suspected of a violent a break-in and assault in Enfield early Sunday morning.
Xavier Torres, 44, of West haven, was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass, engaging police in a pursuit, third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree strangulation, violation of a protective order, driving while under suspension and evading, according to a report.
The incident took place just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox said Torres is accused of entering a local home he was prohibited from visiting and then punching and choking a woman. The woman attempted to call 911 for help, but the woman said Torres prevented it, according to a report.
Torres fled the home and was tracked down a short time later, Fox said.

Fox said he attempted to flee a second time but was taken into custody. While fleeing, Torres, whose license was under suspension, hit a 2003 Honda pilot that was parked on a local street with his vehicle, a report indicates.
Torres was being held Monday on a $100,000 bond.
