Enfield Police Dog Tracks Down Pursuit Suspect
The dog tracked the suspect's scent through woods and a neighborhood before finding her hiding inside a shed, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield police dog tracked down a suspect who had earlier engaged police in a pursuit, leading to the woman's arrest on multiple charges Wednesday evening.
Around 5:30 p.m., Officer Mike Colantuono and his canine partner Nova arrived to assist with a track following termination of a pursuit which began on Parsons Road, following a report of a suspicious vehicle. After calling off the pursuit due to speed and weather conditions, police located the vehicle unoccupied and unsecured on Fairfield Road, Deputy Chief Gary Collins said.
Colantuono and Nova initiated a track using the vehicle's seat as a scent article, and Nova tracked the scent into a thick wooded area, then out to a neighborhood and began tracking through rear yards. They located the female operator's bag and wallet along the track, police said.

The dog continued on through a few more back yards to a neighborhood south of where the vehicle had been located. Dispatchers received reports from residents in the area that the female had been seen running through back yards about 30 minutes earlier, police said.
Nova tracked the scent into a yard on Copper Drive, where he stopped at a shed and alerted on the shed doors. Another officer opened the shed and the female suspect was located hiding and taken into custody without incident, police said.
