Enfield Police Nab Suspect in Car Rim Thefts
The man was caught after engaging police in a pursuit on I-91 early Thursday morning; a second suspect is still at large.

ENFIELD, CT - A Massachusetts man accused of stealing rims from a car in the southern end of Enfield was arrested early Thursday morning after engaging police in a pursuit on Interstate 91.
Jonathan Beltran, 26, of Holyoke, is charged with third-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit and operating without a license.
He was held on $15,000 bond, and was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Enfield Superior Court.
Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said a homeowner on Duff Drive found their car up on blocks, and described a vehicle they saw leaving the area to police.
An officer soon spotted the car headed northbound on Route 5 and began a pursuit which moved onto I-91 northbound. Just before exit 49, the suspect's car nicked a concrete median and spun out, and the driver and a passenger jumped out and ran, Sferrazza said.
The officer chased Beltran up a steep embankment before subduing him; the other suspect got away, the chief said.
Sferrazza said it is possible Beltran and his accomplice may be involved in a series of thefts that has plagued the town in recent weeks.
