Enfield Police Say I-91 Stop Quickly Turned Into A Laundry List Of Charges
What began as a registration issue quickly escalated into multiple criminal charges.
ENFIELD, CT — A traffic stop on Interstate 91 led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine and a handgun, according to the Enfield Police Department.
Police said the stop happened around 12:31 p.m. on March 13 on I-91 north between exits 46 and 47.
An officer from the department’s K9 unit stopped a vehicle after noticing misuse of registration plates. Police said the plate attached to the vehicle did not have a valid DMV approval sticker.

The driver was identified as Daniel Soto, 24, of Hartford.
During the investigation, officers determined the vehicle was not registered or insured. Police then searched the vehicle.

According to police, officers found:
• 176 bags of suspected fentanyl
• multiple small baggies of suspected marijuana
• 12 capsules containing suspected crack cocaine
• about 2 grams of suspected THC concentrate in wax form
• a digital scale with suspected marijuana residue
• a silver and black .40-caliber Glock handgun with an extended magazine loaded with 22 rounds
Police said further investigation revealed the handgun had been reported stolen out of Stratford.
Soto was arrested and charged with numerous offenses including possession of narcotics with intent to sell, weapons violations, operating an unregistered vehicle, misuse of plates and driving under suspension.
He is currently being held on a $250,000 cash or surety bond.
