Press release from Enfield Public Library:

Dec. 16, 2020

Due to the increase in COVID cases, beginning on Monday 12/21, the Central Library will be capping capacity at 20 individuals. We are strongly recommending that library patrons call 860-763-7510 to make an appointment to guarantee a spot in the window they would like to visit. As long as we are under capacity, walk-ins will be welcome, but they will have to register at the desk. All our regular services, like browsing for books and movies, computer use, and notary services will remain available. Curbside pickup is also available for anyone who does not want to come into the building.

Through State of Connecticut’s Everybody Learns Grant, we are happy to announce that we have added 18 picnic tables to the Central Library’s grounds. Our Buildings and Grounds crews have been working hard to get them installed as quickly as possible. While this may not be helpful when it’s 20 degrees with a 18 inches of snow, when the weather is a bit better, it will provide our patrons with a safe place to enjoy our services. Our IT Department is also working on expanding the Wi-Fi signal on the library grounds.

The Library Reference staff have been adding additional eBooks and eAudiobooks to our eBook platforms so that patrons who can’t visit the library still have access to materials. We also have eMagazines, streaming movies and music available.

The Children’s staff continue provide virtual storytimes via Facebook Live and provide grab and go crafts at the library.

Most of our databases are available from home, including the very popular genealogical resource Ancestry.com. Reference staff are still taking reference and research questions via email at LibraryQuestion@enfield.org.
