Enfield Rep to Continue Re-Election Campaign Despite 2nd DUI Arrest

He plans to continue seeking a third term in the Connecticut General Assembly despite his recent arrest for operating under the influence.

ENFIELD, CT - Despite his second arrest in an 18-month period for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, Rep. David Alexander says he plans to continue to seek a third term representing the 58th House District, according to the Journal Inquirer.

Alexander, 35, was arrested in the early morning hours of July 16 by state police on I-84 in West Hartford. He had previously been charged in early 2015 incident in Windsor Locks, but those charges were dismissed after he completed an alcohol education program.

He is being challenged for his seat in the General Assembly by Enfield Town Councilor Greg Stokes.

Alexander first won the seat in 2012, defeating current Enfield Board of Education chairman Tom Sirard by a 5,572 to 3,245 margin. He won re-election in 2014, outpolling former Enfield Town Councilor Tom Kienzler, 3,419 to 2,799.
