Enfield Resident Has The Luck of the Irish ... with a Winning Lottery Ticket
An 'Emerald 7s' ticket is a winner for local man.

Bryan Mello of Enfield is very proud of his Irish heritage, so when he saw the CT Lottery’s “Emerald 7’s” instant game ticket for sale, he knew he had to buy it.
“I don’t play much, but I always buy the Irish games,” Mello said, adding “and 7 has always been my lucky number.”
Lucky, indeed. When Mello got to the bottom of scratching his Emerald 7’s ticket he discovered three identical game symbols, which earned him a prize. “I wasn’t expecting to win much. When I saw the prize was $177,777 my first thought was, ‘This can’t be real!’ I went right back inside the store and scanned the ticket in the ticket checker—it was real.”

Mello told Lottery officials that his unexpected and lucky windfall will be well spent on his young family. “We are taking the kids to Disney World — we were already planning it, but now it’ll be all paid for. I’ll also get to finally pay off my student loans, and put some money away for the kids’ college fund.”
Mello’s $177,777 top prize winning Emerald 7’s ticket was purchased at the 7 Eleven Store at 2010 Park St. in Hartford. For selling the winning ticket, 7 Eleven will receive a $1,777.77 check from the CT Lottery.
