Enfield Resident Held on Drug Possession Charges in NY State

An Enfield resident who was stopped for driving with a broken tail light is facing drug charges in New York state.

According to New York State Police, on June 11, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Livingston barracks arrested Andrew W. Samson, 26, of Enfield, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, a Class B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. Samson was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Troopers stopped the vehicle Samson was operating on Route 22 for a broken tail light. “ While the trooper was interviewing Samson, he observed an odor of marjhuana emanating from the vehicle,” according to a police statement.

Police said that they found Samson “ was in possession of approximately 2.3 grams of lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD, marihuana budder and marihuana.”

Samson was arraigned before the Town of New Lebanon Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
