Enfield Schoolteacher Charged With Negligent Homicide
The Newington resident is accused of running through a red light in February and striking a pedestrian, who died shortly thereafter.

NEWINGTON, CT — A Newington woman has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with the fatal striking of a pedestrian in February, the New Britain Herald reported.
Alyssa Santos, 26, was also charged with failure to obey a traffic control signal in the incident which killed Walter Arnett, 63, of Newington.
Santos is accused of failing to stop at a red light at the junction of Cedar Street and Mill Street Extension shortly before 7 p.m. on Feb. 25, striking Arnett and causing major injuries, to which he succumbed on March 12.

Santos recently completed her first full year as a fifth-grade teacher at Prudence Crandall Elementary School in Enfield.
She was to have appeared in New Britain Superior Court Thursday, but her case was continued to Aug. 23, according to the Hartford Courant.
