Enfield Seeks Redesign Of Thompsonville Streets

The project will focus on improving sidewalks, bike access, and traffic safety in Thompsonville.

ENFIELD, CT — The Town of Enfield is looking to hire a consultant to help redesign streets in Thompsonville as part of a larger effort connected to the future Enfield Station train project.

The town has released a Request for Proposals for engineering and environmental work focused on Main Street, North Main Street, and Pearl Street. The consultant selected will update older street plans and create new ones, looking at things like sidewalks, bike access, traffic calming, lighting, landscaping, and accessibility improvements.

The project is meant to make it easier and safer for people to walk, bike, and travel through Thompsonville, while also improving access to the future train station, nearby green space, and the Connecticut River. Town officials say the work is especially focused on improving conditions in the village.

The work is being paid for with $1 million in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which means the project must follow federal rules, including an updated environmental review.
