Enfield Students, Staff Greet Wreaths Across America Convoy [VIDEO]
Walmart trucks loaded with wreaths for National Wreaths Across America Day toured Enfield on their way to Arlington National Cemetery.
ENFIELD, CT — Each year prior to National Wreaths Across America Day, Walmart trucks loaded with wreaths make the trek from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery just outside Washington, D.C., with an additional truck destined for Shanksville, Penn. After a brief hiatus, the caravan traveled through Connecticut Wednesday, making its now-customary only Connecticut stop with a circuitous route through Enfield.
Escorted by Enfield Police Department vehicles, the trucks left Walmart in East Windsor shortly after 10 a.m., and followed a route designed to have them slowly pass by each public school in Enfield. At each site, students and staff members turned out in full force, enthusiastically cheering and thanking the drivers and holding up signs of support and love. Each school was also manned by a first responder unit, coming from Enfield and neighboring towns.
Following an hour-long tour of town, the trucks ended up at the town green, where a brief wreath-laying ceremony took place with Lucien Lefevre of American Legion Post 154, Tony Torres of American Legion Post 80 and local Wreaths Across America coordinator Pam Townsend. The drivers then resumed their journey southbound.

The accompanying video was shot from a police escort vehicle, and shows the tremendous reception accorded the caravan at each point along the route. Unfortunately, due to some technical difficulties, not all schools are shown in the final video. We apologize for these unintentional omissions.
