Enfield Town Council Member Submits Resignation
He says his resignation is due to health issues which are preventing him from devoting full attention to the town.

ENFIELD, CT — Town Council member and former Deputy Mayor Peter Falk has resigned from the council effective Friday, citing serious health issues.
The 73-year-old Falk said he is battling skin cancer and can no longer fully devote his time and energy to the council. He had surgery on his head Thursday to combat the cancer, and has been suffering from a condition known as neuropathy, which causes numbness in both hands and feet.
Falk is in his second tenure of town service. He was first elected to the council in 1989 and served through 2002, including a stint as deputy mayor from 1995 to 2001. In early 2017, he was appointed to fill a vacant at-large council seat, then won re-election that fall.

At a Republican caucus on Dec. 16, Falk informed leadership he intended to step down. According to the Journal Inquirer, mayor Michael Ludwick claims he asked Falk to resign following allegations of inappropriate behavior, which became the subject of a police investigation which eventually determined his actions were not criminal in nature, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.
Complaints had been received from some high school parents about Falk's Instagram interaction with several teenage girls. Falk, a member of Enfield's Youth Services Advisory Board, said he occasionally monitors the social media activities of some youths as part of the agency's mission to steer teenagers away from alcohol and drugs.
