ENFIELD, CT — An outbreak of positive COVID tests has prompted closure of the Enfield Transition Learning Academy (ETLA) for the remainder of this week, Superintendent of Schools Chris Drezek said.

The program, based on the lower level of the Enfield Public Schools central office in the former Alcorn School building on Enfield Street, serves about 20 students. There are two teachers and five to six staff members, Drezek said.

He said he learned late Monday night that both teachers, several of the staff members and a few students had tested positive for COVID. Arrangements were made to cover the building Tuesday with staff members from other departments, but the program will be shut down Wednesday through Friday.
