Enfield Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Metropolitan District (the MDC) invites residents from Enfield (and other eligible towns) to empty their homes of hazardous wastes on Saturday, May 21st.  Household hazardous waste will be collected from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stanley E. Jablonski Complex at 40 Moody Road in Enfield. The program is free, environmentally responsible, and gives individuals a chance to protect their local environment.  Examples of acceptable household hazardous waste include compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), solvents, pesticides, cleaners, mercury containing products, gasoline, oil-based paint and batteries. The following materials will not be accepted at the collection: tires, medical waste, radioactive waste, household garbage, compressed gas cylinders, smoke detectors, ammunitions and explosives. Please collect these products in disposable but sturdy boxes or bins, store in a cool, dry place away from children and pets, and transport it to the collection in your trunk.  For a complete list of eligible towns and acceptable items please call the HazWaste Hotline at (860) 278-3809.
