
After more than a week off due to rain, the Fermi High School girls tennis team finally got on the court Friday, winning all four singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over Rockville.
In singles, Faye Kornigsmark defeated Rockville's Meagan Donahue, 6-0, 6-0. Mackenzie Demur was a winner over Hannah Hilton, 6-3, 6-1; Bridget Alaimo defeated Nicole Ciampa, 7-5, 6-0; and Deidre Smith was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Ally Johnson.
Fermi's Alex Williams and Tahirah Smith defeated Meagan Leopard and Sara Shane in doubles, 6-3, 6-2, while Katie Bertrand and Mykela Orifice beat Chantelle Moody and Elizabeth Buxton, 1-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-0.
Rockville's lone win on the court was picked up by the doubles team of Wendy Weston and Katherine Cutting, who defeated Fermi's Sam Jackson and Brook Ellis, 6-1, 6-3.
Fermi (3-9) travels to New Britain Tuesday, while Rockville (5-10) concludes its season Thursday at home against East Hartford.
