Fernand 'Fred' Ferreira, 82; Retired Senior Lab Technician Who Lived in Enfield
Services for the parishioner of St. Bernard Church who enjoyed gardening, golf, fishing, winters in Florida are planned for Thursday, Feb. 5

Fernand “Fred” Joaquin Ferreira, 82, of Enfield, CT loving husband of Laura (Saraiva) Ferreira entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side.
Fred was born May 21, 1932, in Rehoboth, MA the son of Portuguese immigrants, Manuel and Elvira (Sousa) Ferreira.

He received an associate’s degree from the former Bradford Durfee College of Technology in Fall River, MA and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Fred retired from United Technologies Corporation in 1991 after 33 years working in the Research Development division as a Senior Lab Technician. After retiring, Fred and Laura spent their winters in Naples, FL. Fred enjoyed simple pleasures like gardening, walking on the beach, tinkering in the garage, golfing, and fishing.

But family was always the center of Fred’s life. He was a member of the Saint Anne Country Club and was a faithful parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Enfield.
In addition to his wife of 58 wonderful years he is also survived by four daughters, Ramona Ferreira-Wyckoff and her husband John of San Diego, CA, Elizabeth Ferreira Iadarola and her husband, Joseph of Somers, CT, Kathleen Ferreira Payne and her husband, John of Stafford, VA and Karen Ferreira Betancourt and her husband, Mark of Avon, CT. Fred is also survived by eight loving grandchildren, Amelia Wyckoff, Alexander and Zachary Iadarola, Jacob and Rachael Payne, Joseph, Sarah and Olivia Betancourt; two brothers, John Ferreira, Manuel “Red” Ferreira and his wife Natalie, all of Bristol, RI; two sisters, Elvira Santos of Rehoboth, MA and Mary Goulart of Bristol, RI.
Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather and good friend who will be dearly missed.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Fred’s life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 11 am at St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave. (Route 190) Enfield, CT. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082 or to the American Cancer Society CT Chapter, 825 Brook Street I-91 Tech Center Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels.
