LONGMEADOW, MA — A raging fire engulfed a small shopping plaza in Longmeadow Tuesday morning, just a few yards from the Enfield town line.

The plaza at the Maple Center Shopping Center at 909 Shaker Road, less than 500 feet from the Enfield border, is the longtime home of Armata's Market, the Bottle Shop liquor store and four other small businesses. Longmeadow fire officials told Western Mass News the plaza is a total loss.

The brother of the Bottle Shop owner told Western Mass News the fire began around 6:30 a.m. at the liquor store, then was carried by wind to the adjacent grocery store.
