Fire Knocked Down At Enfield Industrial Plant

The fire was reported in the late morning Friday and was declared under control within a half hour.

ENFIELD, CT — Firefighters from all five Enfield departments quickly knocked down a magnesium fire at an industrial company at 243 Shaker Rd. late Friday morning.

The fire at Yankee Castings was reported at 11:05 a.m. after a motorist reported seeing heavy smoke in the area. Upon arrival, Shaker Pines Fire Department personnel asked for an all-tone requesting mutual aid from the other town departments, according to radio dispatches.

At 11:28 a.m., the fire was reported to be knocked down, and the situation was declared under control by fire officials at 11:34 a.m., according to radio dispatches.

One person was treated by EMS personnel for smoke inhalation, according to radio dispatches.
