First Readers Association of Enfield, CT announces its sixth school year. Since 2011 First Readers Association of Enfield CT has been recognizing children of Enfield when they take that initial leap into reading fluency.
First Readers is a non-profit volunteer community organization that works in partnership with the Enfield Public Schools, St, Martha Parochial School, St. Bernard Parochial School and the Enfield Public Library. Children attending one of the partner schools are certified by their teacher. Children who live in Enfield and are home schooled or attend a non-participating school can be certified at the Enfield Public Library.

“The Children's staff here at the library enjoys certifying children as First Readers. It is such an exciting time in a child's life and we are pleased to be able to share in celebrating with families as their child reaches this milestone,” commented Kristin Raiche, Enfield’s Head Children/Team Services Librarian.
First Readers has recognized over 2,000 students at community ceremonies hosted by Enfield’s Mayor Scott Kaupin, Deputy Mayor Bill Lee, Superintendent Jeffrey Schumann and other local Celebrities

“Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces as they walk on stage and high five our Mayor, as well as the smile on the Mayor’s face, lets us know how special this moment is,” said Judy
