Flashback Friday: Former Enfield Businesses

ENFIELD, CT — Our recent discovery of old advertisements in telephone directories and high school yearbooks has prompted a number of requests to feature more of our usual Throwback Thursday column, so we now also offer Flashback Friday, giving readers two opportunities a week to reminisce about an Enfield business of the past.

Today we feature a circa 1980 telephone directory ad from the Campsite, which was in the rear of a small strip plaza at 939 Enfield Street. The Campsite sold a full line of camping and outdoor supplies, lamps, heaters and RV accessories.

The building which contained the Campsite, located across Route 5 from High Street, now houses a nail salon, a Chinese restaurant and a convenience store.
