Former State Rep Endorsed for 7th Senatorial Bid
She will take on 12-term incumbent John Kissel in the November election.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT - In 2008, Annie Hornish ousted an 18-year incumbent to win the 62nd House District seat in the Connecticut General Assembly. This November, she will attempt to have similar results against a 23-year state senator.
At a convention Monday at Windsor Locks Town Hall, Hornish was unanimously nominated by 7th District Democrats to oppose longtime Republican incumbent John Kissel, who has held the seat since 1993.
“We must maintain a vision for Connecticut’s future that includes maintaining our state’s high quality of life. Our current economy dictates that we must provide an environment that creates high quality jobs. To do that, we must invest in education, transportation, and affordable housing,” Hornish said. “We must continue to find efficiencies in government through restructuring, streamlining, and exploiting opportunities for public-private partnerships. We must tackle the tough issues that undermine our investments and long term sustainability.”

Hornish pulled off a shocking upset in 2008, winning the 62nd House District seat from nine-term representative Richard Ferrari by 603 votes. In the 2010 election, she was narrowly defeated by Bill Simanski by just 61 votes in the Republican-dominated district.
“Annie has the drive and commitment to improve Connecticut’s quality of life. In 2016 Annie was the recipient of the coveted “Community Leader” award from Hartford Magazine,” said Liz Davis, chair of the Enfield Democratic Town Committee and newly-appointed member of the Enfield Town Council. “Annie is a proven champion for working families and will serve our towns well."
The 7th Senatorial District district contains the towns of Enfield, Suffield, Windsor Locks, East Granby, Somers and parts of Granby and Windsor.
