George Austin Is Running For Congress — And He’s Making A Stop In Enfield

The Republican hopeful is holding an informal "Breakfast with George" stop as he campaigns ahead of the GOP primary.

ENFIELD, CT — A Republican congressional candidate is making a campaign stop in Enfield for breakfast this week.

George Austin is scheduled to visit Sarapes Restaurant on Friday, Feb. 13, from 8 to 10 a.m., as part of his “Breakfast with George” series of stops across Connecticut’s 2nd Congressional District.

The campaign describes the events as informal and focused on conversation, not speeches. Austin plans to sit down with residents to talk about everyday issues facing families, small businesses and communities in the district.

Austin is seeking the Republican nomination and will need to win the GOP primary before advancing to the general election. If nominated, he would likely face incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, who has represented the district since 2007 and is running for another term.

Campaign organizers say future breakfast stops will be chosen based on suggestions from residents, with events planned throughout the election season.
