Homicide Victim Identified At Enfield Town Green Gazebo

The body of a male was discovered in the gazebo shortly after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — An extensive homicide investigation involving local and state police is underway after a body was discovered in the gazebo at the Enfield town green early Wednesday morning.

At 2:37 a.m., a person walking near the town green saw a body in the gazebo. Responding officers confirmed that the male victim was dead "in an apparent homicide," Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

The Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad was called to assist with the investigation.

At 1 p.m., police identified the victim as 56-year-old Christopher Kennedy. No other information was provided.

Around 8:45 a.m., a number of Enfield officers and state troopers, including several canine units, responded across the Connecticut River to the Windsor Locks Canal State Park. A man was seen being led out of a wooded area in handcuffs. Lt. Willie Pedemonti said the man is "a suspect in an assault on a police officer," but provided no further details.

Police cordoned off a walking trail at the park, and a Suffield police all-terrain vehicle arrived and was seen being driven down the trail.
