Jesse A. Meyers, 88, of Windsor Locks, loving husband of 59 years to Theresa (Mele) Meyers entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital.
Jesse was born October 9, 1926, in Portsmouth, VA, the son of the late John C. and Edna (Heyer) Meyers.

Jesse was a graduate of Columbia University in New York, NY. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor. He also received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupational Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. Jesse retired in 1991 from John F. Kennedy Middle School in Enfield after 43 years where he taught both History and Social Studies.
He was a history buff and loved to talk about history to anyone willing to listen. He loved to golf and feed both the squirrels and birds. Jesse was a very quiet and humble man who loved to teach and help anyone in need, whether a family member, a student who needed extra help or a stranger. If somebody needed help Jesse was there and asked for nothing in return.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by a son, Jamie Meyers of Canton, CT; a brother, Dr. John C. Meyers, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Betty Joan Maly of San Diego, CA; a sister-in-law, Anne Pié and her husband, William of Wethersfield, CT. Jesse is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Daniel E. Sullivan of Lake George, CO, Steve Sullivan of Brandon, MS, Brian Sullivan of Pougkeepsie, NY, Terry Anne LeFavour of Windsor Locks, CT, Suzanne Edgaro of Wethersfield, CT, Michele Johnson of Renton, WA, William Pié, Jr. of Wethersfield, CT and Jennifer Wilson of Seattle, WA and his feline friend, Baby.
Per Jesse’s request there are no calling hours and funeral services and burial will be held privately. Jesse’s family would like to thank, Denise Lash, Doris Baron, Shirley Devanny and John Dellaguistino for their compassion and wonderful care given has given to Jesse and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jesse may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
