John R. Rutherford Jr., 64; Lifelong Enfield Resident Who Was An Avid Runner, Motorsports Enthusiast

Calling hours will be held Monday, March 16 with the funeral scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.

John R. Rutherford Jr., 64, of Enfield, passed away Wednesday March 11, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.

One of five children, John was the son of the late John Ramsey Rutherford, Sr. and Emily (Fishburn) Rutherford.

A lifelong Enfield resident, he was an avid runner, and motorsports enthusiast who loved riding his motorcycle and snowmobiling. John was a thoughtful and caring brother, uncle, and friend who made a difference in many lives. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. A spiritual and reflective man, he enjoyed writing in his journal and spending time in nature.

John is survived by a sister, Carol Burke and her husband Edward of Plantsville, CT; three brothers, James and his wife Susan of Great Falls, MT, Warren of Enfield, and Bob and his wife Stephanie of Enfield. He also leaves two nieces, Shannon and Brittany, two nephews, Faron and Trenten, a grandniece Charlotte and a grandnephew Lars.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 16 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. The funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (Please meet at Church), 383 Hazard Ave., Enfield. Committal with military honors will follow at Hazardville Cemetery.
