As a lifelong Enfield resident, a mother, and someone who spent years working for the Speaker of the House and House Democrats at the Connecticut General Assembly, I have had the opportunity to observe legislators from every corner of Connecticut. I have seen elected officials who struggled to find their footing, and I have seen those who immediately understood how to navigate the legislative process and deliver results for their communities.
That is why I am proudly supporting the re-election of State Representative John Santanella.
When John first arrived at the Capitol as a newly elected legislator, I expected what we often see from freshmen lawmakers: a period of adjustment as they learn the process, build relationships, and gain experience. Instead, John immediately immersed himself in the work. He asked thoughtful questions, sought out expertise, built relationships across the legislature, and focused relentlessly on one thing: how he could bring results back to Enfield.

What stood out most was his sense of urgency. John understood that the people who elected him could not afford to wait years for him to learn the job. From his very first days in office, he approached every meeting, every conversation, and every opportunity with the goal of advancing the interests of our community.
Working in the legislature gave me a unique perspective on what separates effective representatives from ineffective ones. Success in Hartford is not measured by speeches, headlines, or campaign rhetoric. It is measured by the ability to build relationships, earn credibility, navigate a complex process, and secure meaningful results for the people back home.

The results speak for themselves.
In less than two years, John helped secure a $10 million Community Investment Fund grant to support the redevelopment of Enfield Square Mall, a transformational investment that will help shape Enfield’s future for decades to come. He secured a $1.4 million Alliance District grant to support our schools, helped obtain $100,000 to assist with fire district consolidation efforts, and worked with Governor Lamont’s administration to secure a commitment of $3.5 million in gap financing for the Union Square development project.
His advocacy has extended beyond major economic development initiatives. John helped secure funding for organizations that serve our neighbors every day, including the Enfield Food Shelf, Loaves and Fishes, and PFLAG Enfield. These investments demonstrate an understanding that strong communities are built not only through development and infrastructure, but also through supporting the organizations that strengthen the lives of local families.
Having worked with legislators from every corner of Connecticut, I can honestly say that very few first-term representatives have delivered the level of results for their hometown that John Santanella has delivered for Enfield. These accomplishments are not typical for a first-term legislator. They reflect someone who quickly earned the trust and respect of leaders throughout the Capitol and who understands how to turn relationships into results for the people he serves.
At a time when communities across Connecticut are competing for limited resources and attention, Enfield needs a representative who already has a seat at the table and knows how to make our voice heard. The relationships, credibility, and influence that John has built in such a short period of time are valuable assets for our town, and they are assets that should not be taken for granted.
From my firsthand experience working in the Capitol, I can say with confidence that John Santanella has become one of the most effective advocates Enfield has sent to Hartford in many years. I am proud to support his re-election and encourage my fellow Democrats to do the same.
