Kiner Nominated For a Second Term In 59th District
Incumbent Democrat will be opposed by Enfield Town Councilman Joe Bosco.

Stressing the importance of finding bi-partisan solutions for Connecticut’s toughest problems, State Rep. David W. Kiner received the Democratic party’s unanimous endorsement at a nominating convention held at Tuesday.
Kiner is seeking his second term representing the 59th District, which now consists of the eastern portion of Enfield and the northwest corner of East Windsor.
He will be opposed by Republican , an Enfield Town Council member and business owner who won his party's endorsement last week.

In his acceptance speech, Kiner pledged to put East Windsor and Enfield above partisanship, just as he has done throughout his first term. Kiner said, “Finding solutions in challenging times requires courage and commitment, not political rhetoric.”
Kiner pointed to his work to ease the local property tax burden, achieving comprehensive education reform, and the upcoming expansion of mass transportation options for area commuters. Kiner also pointed to his work helping individual constituents.
Donna Jones-Searle, who placed Kiner’s name in nomination, shared a story of how Kiner helped her granddaughter through a difficult time. Searle, who works for and sits on the board of the Network Against Domestic Abuse, praised Kiner for his strong support of education and his involvement in domestic violence issues.

David Wassung of the Enfield Fish and Game Unit, who said he rarely votes for Democrats, seconded Kiner’s nomination. Wassung said Kiner’s help in clarifying training requirements for the unit will help it to continue serving Enfield.
“After getting to know David personally and seeing his work ethics I can say without question that he just wants to get the job done for the good of the community,” Wassung said.
said he is optimistic about Kiner’s re-election campaign.
“Whether on the Town Council or as State Representative, David Kiner has always been a voice for the working families in Enfield,” Thomson said.
“There is much more work to be done. I am going to continue working to solve our state’s greatest challenges,” Kiner said, “finding those solutions is a lot harder than just saying no.”
Election Day is Nov. 6.
