Enfield mom of four is raising awareness around the hidden danger button batteries pose to families with young children. One year ago, her 10-month-old swallowed a button battery. She will bravely tell the story of rushing him to the ER for emergency surgery where they prepared her for the worst. It only takes 2 hours for acid to burn a hole in the throat causing bleeding or death. What’s worse, is in many cases, it is not known that the child swallowed a battery until it’s to late. Button batteries are shockingly easy to access and found numerous household items such as remote controls, key fobs, digital scales, stuffed musical toys, thermometers, wireless headphones, watches, hearing aids, tea lights and the most frightening, musical greeting cards. How many times have you let a small child play with a musical card believing it was harmless???
