Late Police Chief to be Honored At Enfield Democrat of the Year Gathering

Herbie Foy served the Enfield community for 55 years, including numerous years with the Enfield Police Department.

ENFIELD, CT — The Enfield Democratic Town Committee will posthumously honor longtime Enfield Police Chief Herbert “Herbie” Foy at its annual Democrat of the Year gathering on Oct. 5.

Foy, who passed away Feb. 9, 2015, is widely recognized for his 55 years of public safety service with the Enfield Police Department, where he started as a police officer and ultimately retired as Chief. He also served his country in World War II and the Korean War.

Through the years, Herb has been acknowledged by his community with numerous awards, including the Enfield Patriot Award in 2009 and Man of the Year Award by the Enfield Elks in 2008. Foy was a member of the Enfield Community Ambulance Fund, a Board Trustee for Johnson Memorial Hospital, a member of the John Maciolek American Legion Post 154, and the Enfield Society for the Detection of Thieves and Robbers. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Enfield, where he earned the ultimate honor of Paul Harris Fellow.

Foy’s spouse of 64 years, Marjorie, will be accepting the award in his honor.
