Leonora 'Lee' August, 97; Retired Pratt & Whitney Employee

Leonora “Lee” (Tokarczyk) August, 97, died on July 29, 2014 in Suffield.

A lifelong resident of Enfield, she spent the last several years at Suffield House.

She was married to Joseph M. August for 62 years until his death in 1998.

Before her retirement she was employed by Pratt & Whitney Division of United Technologies. Active in senior citizens affairs, she was a member of the North Central CT Chapter of AARP and a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church for over 50 years.

She is survived by a son, Richard J. August and his wife Donna of North Kingstown, RI; two grandchildren, Col. Mark R. August, USAF, and Melanie J. Cargilo of Warwick, RI; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Another grandson, Captain Matthew J. August, US Army, was killed in action in Iraq in 2004.

Those wishing to pay their last respects are invited to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield from 8:30 a.m. - 9:15-a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church, 426 Hazard Ave., in the Hazardville section of Enfield. Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Lee’s memory be made to the Captain Matthew J. August Endowment Fund, C/O Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island, One Cathedral Square, Providence, RI 02903.
