ENFIELD, CT — Educators are built with certain qualities like the sense of fairness, concern for the common good, and belief in reason. The Enfield Democrats who are seeking to serve are certainly aligned with these core values. The Enfield Teachers’ Association believes that the Democrats are the best team to lead the rejuvenation of Enfield where economic, social, and educational progress for all will become priorities. Therefore, the ETA proudly endorses the full Democratic slate for the Board of Education and Town Council.
Board of Education candidates Tina LeBlanc, Scott Ryder, Amanda Pickett, Joshua Hamre, and Dr. Jerry Calnen will combine their seasoned experience with fresh ideas to ensure the best educational opportunities for all of our students. These folks will trust the knowledge and judgement of professional educators who create and manage these opportunities. In addition, between their professional and personal lives, this group has an unmatched dedication to and appreciation for all children and for public schools. Their motivation for serving will never be in question.
Town Council candidates Bob Cressotti, Cindy Mangini, Gina Cekala, John Santanella, Doug Finger, Matt Despard, and Nick Hopkins are a great team of experienced council veterans and enthusiastic newcomers. Their diverse representation of careers- the law, education, business, social/emotional health, and labor- in both the private and public sector- is impressive and will formulate a well-rounded, pragmatic leadership team. These individuals will not solely collaborate with one another but will also foster functional relationships with their Republican colleagues in order to make the best decisions for families in Enfield.

The ETA has tried to establish working relationships with the Republicans and Democrats to assist students, teachers, and the greater Enfield community. I know people on both sides of the aisle. They are good people and some progress was made. However, it is clear through the actions of both groups, that the Democrats truly respect our students, our profession, our association, and the town of Enfield.
