Letters are strictly the opinion of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Enfield Patch.

Hello my name is John Foxx and I want to be your Town Councilman for District 1.

My wife Laura and I are lifelong residents of Enfield. I am an Employee Benefits Consultant and Laura is an elementary school Principal and we are communicants at Holy Family Church.

I am a board member of the Enfield Revitalization Strategy Committee, The Enfield Foundation for Excellence in Education, a member of the Friends of the Enfield Library and I am also a trumpet player in the Community Band right here in the JFK auditorium.

Last year when I ran for 7th Senatorial District, my mission was to develop initiatives that are conducive to economic growth. This year, my goal remains the same. I’ve seen it work in many other towns with amazing success and I know it can work here, but it requires a vision that everyone can buy into and work together toward. An effective long range plan and strategy will keep Enfield affordable and prosperous.

I am an optimistic person, I believe we can set a course for prosperity, but more than anything I want you to know that your input will make all the difference to me. I want to hear your thoughts and ideas and in turn, I will report back to you with the successes and challenges we face as a community.

As a member of the town council I pledge to create greater transparency within our town government. I will be your responsive partner on the Town Council making sure you see improvements in the areas that you think need our attention.

I believe we need to develop and improve our community in order to attract young families and working professionals by offering a higher quality and more competitive school system, social services, recreation and a well maintained infrastructure.

Enfield is our hometown and is a strong community. We all want a town where we can raise our families, feel safe and enjoy life. Enfield has much to offer residents of all ages from strong youth sports programs, to town wide celebrations and an active senior center and it’s time to build on those successes and to not give into pessimism.

I have walked through and met with people in every neighborhood in District 1 and many people are concerned about the cost of living in Enfield being too expensive and I share those concerns. I know that many other towns in our State are in the same position, but have found innovative ways to address rising costs.

I think we need to look for those types of opportunities to keep expenses down while making sound investments in areas that will have a positive net effect on the town and our district.

I’ve tried to meet as many of you as possible and I invite you to a meet and greet that I am hosting Saturday, October 31st from 9am to 2pm at Raffia Plaza on Halloween day. In attendance will be other Democratic candidates for the At Large and Board of Education seats.

And again, I am interested to meet as many of you as possible and talk about the future of our town. We need a fresh and passionate voice to represent District 1 and I am that candidate.

Vote for me, John Foxx, on November 3rd.
