LETTER: Mayor Asks Citizens to Vote Republican

Opinions expressed are those of the letter writer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Patch Media. Opposing viewpoints are welcomed.

On Tuesday, November 7th, we will be visiting the polls for Enfield’s municipal election. This is the election for the Town Council, Board of Education, and Constables. This will be the first time in over twenty years that I will not be standing there with my colleagues as a candidate for the Town Council.

Having had the privilege of being Mayor for the last five terms has been a wonderful experience, and what I truly enjoyed most was meeting so many people across Enfield. Many have become good personal friends. Many have guided my decisions with a focus on what you needed, and many helped me see points of view I may not have considered.

This election I ask you to continue to vote for a Republican majority on the Town Council and Board of Education, straight along Row B, because I know these candidates have the best interests of Enfield and you the residents at heart.

Many have Town Council and Board of Education experience. All have volunteered hundreds of hours throughout the community and on very large town projects. Each brings a wealth of knowledge to serve our town well, and all of them are committed to keeping Enfield on a path of continuous improvement.

Republican leadership has set the standard that keeps Enfield an attractive and affordable place to live, raise a family, work and play.

Positive results are seen all across Enfield due to long-range planning and just plain hard work:

  • Critical infrastructure improvements
  • Substantial job/business growth
  • Enfield commuter rail station on the Hartford Line in 2020
  • Increased public safety and emergency services measures
  • Access to local government and information

Enfield needs to continue on the path of productive reform and this can only be done with positive leadership and people without agendas.

I will be most grateful if you continue this legacy by voting for a Republican majority on the Town Council, and thus continue with a Republican Mayor.

Please cast your vote - across line B - for your district candidate (Joe Bosco, District 1; Kelly Hemmeler, District 2; Donna Szewczak, District 3; Marie Pyznar, District 4) and all the At-Large candidates of Mike Ludwick, Peter Falk, Joe Muller, and Lori Unghire.

Our Board of Education candidates play an integral part in achieving the goals for Enfield. By voting for Walter Kruzel, Rich Regnier, Ashley Depeau, Charlotte Riley, and Chris Rutledge, Enfield’s commitment to education continues to move forward.

I will be spending time at every polling place this year, so please stop and say hello. I look forward to seeing you and thanking you for the opportunity to have served Enfield.

Scott Kaupin
Mayor of Enfield, Town Council At-large
