ENFIELD, CT — Scott Ryder has my support and my vote on Election Day, November 2nd.

This year it is more important than ever to vote in our local elections. Scott Ryder, currently on the Board of Education here in Enfield, is running for re-election. Now, I would need the entire paper in order to list all of the reasons why I am supporting Scott, but here are a few of them.

He cares! He has the interests of our students, teachers, staff and residents at the forefront. He loves our town, and more importantly, our schools. He is an avid supporter of our teachers and our staff. He does not want to tell teachers and staff how to do the jobs they are qualified and had the proper education and training, to do. Instead, he wants to support, encourage and back them. He does not have an ulterior motive.

He is an active stakeholder. He and his wife have 2 children, both who attend Enfield Public Schools. Not only do his children attend EPS, he volunteers countless hours a week in the schools. He serves on the PTO boards for his children’s schools, he serves as the town wide PTO coordinator, he volunteers as a Mentor, etc. He is in the schools, sees the teachers, sees the kids, sees the staff, constantly.

He has the best interests of all students at heart, he protects and supports all students. He believes in equity and inclusiveness. Scott worked tirelessly, against vigorous Republican objection, to keep sections of the 5000 series in the Board of Education Policy. These policies sought to provide protections for some of our most vulnerable students- our Military Children and LGBTQ+ students. It spoke to the consequences of inappropriate behavior on the school campus, concussion protocol, etc. The Republicans did not want these policies included. They did not want to protect all of our students. Scott, is the reason those policies passed. He did not give up on what he thought was right. He has fought for, and will continue to fight for our students, our teachers, our staff and our administration.

I will be voting for Scott Ryder, and the rest of the Democratic slate, on November 2nd.

Enfield Town Councilor
