November 7, 2017 is Election Day. It's not a national election remember as a voter you have more control of your local elections than the national one. Do your part by meeting candidates, asking the questions, keep them accountable and if you don’t attend local meetings, go to your town’s website and find out what is going on in your community.

As a registered voter since March 1978, I vote for the person, not a party. It is more important to support a candidate that is fiscally responsible than a spend, spend and spend candidate. As in our homes we have X amount of funds and Y amount of financial responsibilities. First it is important to save funds for unexpected items on continuous basis and control the unnecessary spending. The variables are needs and wants as a community of taxpayers we have to encourage those in government to focus more on the needs and prepare for the wants.

It is amazing to me everything I learned in college from Professor Lois King in the three Economics classes I took have come full circle. We are in the financial circumstances from many years of spend, spend and spend. Only when we embraced on the role of fiscal responsibility will there be change and no it is not going to happen immediately! What we can start to search for representation in candidates that have the vision that helps the community not their own personal agendas. As many Americans I have debt, a home, parent student loans and credit cards. What am I doing about it? I have set a plan of action to eliminate my debt in a period of time along with increasing my contributions to my retirement.

I’m writing now to show such support for Kelly Hemmeler. First she is a person of faith, a business owner, wife, mother, and a genuine person that is concerned on making positive changes. She is part of the solutions volunteering her time with the Enfield Food Pantry, Cornerstone Church of CT and showing her light to make Enfield a great place to live and work in.

Although I have only been a resident since 2014, I’m familiar with its existence going back to my childhood years - the time my family visited family and friends that live here (all have died now) and the trips the late Blanche Belle (my godmother) took me shopping at the mall and we would have lunch before we returned to Hartford.

Kelly Hemmeler is the best candidate to represent Enfield on the Town Council for District 2 and the entire town. When you vote for people like Kelly, it is a win for our entire community!
