LETTER: Why a Back Door Deal In Executive Session?
Opinions expressed are those of the letter writer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Patch Media. Opposing viewpoints are welcomed.

Well, I got my answer to when discussions and "consensus" (word used to justify the actions) to move forward for the creation of the Eagle Academy and the moving of Head Start went down.
Joint meeting of the Town of Enfield Council and BOE Monday March 18, 2019 ... needless to say these discussions happened during executive session ... needless to say the conversation was not any that could or should have been handled during executive session ... needless to say the concern about the legality of the discussion was brought up during these talks, the concerns were ignored and the conversation did proceed.
The reasons for executive session are: discussion of individuals of the agency or employee, strategies and negotiations about pending litigation, security matters, real estate transactions, any matter that would result in discussing public record that is exempt from disclosure.

Now, one may bring in discussions about the union employees but any union discussions actually fall under something referred to as a "non meeting" that does not get posted and does not need an agenda.
A "consensus" was made in executive session to move forward with the Eagle Academy and Head Start plans, so when executive session ended a vote of the Council and BOE should have been made but was not.

Some may say the meeting was a courtesy to the Superintendent and a vote didn't need to be made BUT the meeting WAS had and decisions WERE made and that my friends should have been made public with a vote.
This my friends is what is called a back door deal by the average taxpayer.
